This is the Stage 2 path: a receive-only box in the doghouse reading the EDR's WITS output. Item codes vary by vendor and configuration, so the channel mapping is set once per rig from the vendor's WITS documentation. Pason prefixes every record with a 1984PASON/EDR header.
