Frequently asked questions

Why use true vertical depth instead of measured depth?

Hydrostatic pressure depends only on the vertical height of the fluid column, so TVD is used. Measured depth is used for volumes.

Why is kill mud weight rounded up?

Rounding up to the next 0.1 ppg gives a small margin so the new mud overbalances formation pressure.
